After watching the debacle (debate) last night it was evident that John Kasich helped himself the most breaking out of the pack. Also Marco Rubio presented himself very well. While I agree with neither, I fear this combination as the Republican ticket for 6 reasons.
First, Ohio and Florida two big states that I believe they would carry in the general election.
Second, both sound intelligent and do not scare people. Clean cut nice guy images.
Third, they have the ability to sound moderate enough to mislead the people into believing their stick. They put forth their message with a positive spin and a sense they can be trusted.
Fourth, they appear as fresh faces on the political scene when compared to the Clintons and Bushes.
Fifth, they have the ability to pick up conservative Democrats, Independents and to unite the Republican party.
Finally,What I fear most is that they could carry the states they live in and others such as Iowa, Wisconsin, Virginia and North Carolina.
Follow me below the fold.
This diary is not an endorsement of their views or policies.
I like Bernie Sanders and support him vocally and financially but he will be unmercifully attacked for belonging to the Democratic Socialist Party . It will take a grass roots effort to get out the vote and massive amounts of money to educate the public on his views which if known a majority would support. The bar will be set higher for Bernie then any other candidate simply because of the word socialist. Bernie's one saving grace is that he does not run from it and does an excellent job defending it. The big question is Will enough people hear the issues he supports. Kasich and Rubio will come across as the antithesis of socialism and the unwashed masses may just eat it up.
Clinton has one major problem TRUST she is fantastic on the stump, she knocked it out of the park in Iowa when all the Democratic candidates spoke. A choice between Clinton and Kasich/Rubio will highlight the trust issue to the MAX. For Clinton it only gets worse she will be pounded unmercifully and continuously on Benghazi, emails, her contributors etc. all hitting hard on "can she be believed" and "can we trust her". Hilliary is a remarkable women my second choice and I would work for her and contribute to her campaign if she is the nominee. Can she get out her message over the negative ads, attacks and sound bites that will be put out against her in mass and constantly from now until election? Her stand on the issues and her stump speech is terrific but can she be heard over the din and blare of negativity and then if heard will the voters trust her enough to believe her and most importantly vote for her.
We must all double down our efforts to let the public know the positives about the Democratic candidate we support. We cannot afford to attack other Democratic candidates or we are only helping the Republicans. Trust me 2016 is an uphill battle for Democrats if Kasich/ Rubio is the Republican ticket.
