Please join me in supporting Mariko Yamada for California State Senate district 03.
Mariko Yamada is a Democrat and former California Assemblymember currently running for California State Senate District 3, comprised of Solano and Napa counties; and portions of the counties of Contra Costa, Sacramento, Sonoma and Yolo. The Primary Election is Tuesday, June 7, 2016.
I'm writing to ask for your support of Mariko who is in a tough race against Republican turned Democrat Bill Dodd.
Bill Dodd, less than a year after securing a seat in the state Assembly, is ready to move on to the state Senate. Dodd announced he’s seeking the 3rd Senate District seat currently held by Lois Wolk, who terms out of office in 2016.
The People's Vanguard of Davis wonders if Dodd has the advantage based on his endorsements... but they note:
The key to this race will be the same key as 2008 and 2014 – the unions. In 2008, the unions not only matched the money but put huge amounts of canvassers into the race, that enabled Mariko Yamada to overcome the money and endorsement advantage of West Sacramento Mayor Christopher Cabaldon.
Analysis: Has Bill Dodd Seized the Early Advantage?
Republican Gregg Coppes who is also running for the seat said it best:
From the DailyRepublic - Dodd, Coppes, Yamada Seek Solano State Senate Seat:
He (Coppes) said Dodd was a lifelong Republican and switched his party affiliation to become a Democrat to get elected.
Former Assemblywoman Mariko Yamada is also running for the Senate seat. She talks on her website about the state’s recovery being uneven and inequitable.
“Too many are out of work; our social and public safety net is tattered; higher education and health care costs continue to rise; and the fourth consecutive year of drought and climate change threaten our multibillion-dollar farm industry,” Yamada said on her website.
“If you want to vote for a Democrat, vote for Yamada,” Coppes said. “She’s a real Democrat. She believes in what she does.”
