Naked racism seethes within the Republican party. Millions of Hispanic Americans are ripe to register to vote and millions more are solidifying their commitment to vote.
Into this reality, steps a well-organized voter registration effort. From September 15th to October 15th, they'll be running "a one of a kind on-the-ground and digital voter registration campaign that seeks to shift this cultural celebration to a month of action around voter registration and community organizing".
The 56 partner organizations (and growing) include the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, the National Council of La Raza, People for the American Way and SEIU. (I'm not affiliated with any of the organizations.)
The DailyKos website and community can play a role, as can others. FYI, they're using the voter registration widgets provided by Rock The Vote.
Individuals can post supportive social media messages and get involved (see Voto Latino on
twitter,
Facebook, and
Instagram). And next Wednesday, there will be an online chat on Twitter to provide more organizing details.
It's unclear to me what on-the-ground voter registration will occur for this month of action. But National Voter Registration Day is on Wednesday, September 22nd, and a list of events can be found here: nationalvoterregistrationday.org/events/
Maybe the DailyKos community can organize original posts to coincide with each day of the Hispanic Heritage Month of Action. Volunteers? Thoughts?

Voting disparities exist for other socioeconomic characteristics beyond wealth, including age and level of education.

Note that Hispanics are younger than other demographic groups so part of the disparity in voting is attributable to age.
Currently, 28 million Hispanics are eligible to vote.
