I am a Clinton supporter, although I really like Sanders because of his strong commitment to a Liberal agenda.
In the distant past I have worked for and supported MANY similar candidates, including George McGovern, Eugene McCarthy ( “Keep Clean With Gene” ) and have written in my choice of POTUS several times rather than voting for Humphrey or Johnson, but when I “wasted” my vote on a write in candidate is was with reasonable certainty that I was not helping to elect a Republican.
My concern about Sanders winning the nomination, or even coming close revolves around the election of “down ticket” Democrats. Sanders, for all his support among the younger newer voters appears to be SO anti-establishment that he would have NO “coat-tail” effect for Congressional, Senatorial or State races.
I wonder what would happen if BOTH parties nominate an extreme left wing and right wing candidate, disenfranchising almost all of the middle ground voters in both parties.Would we have an election where only the voters who are extremists in both parties would get out to vote??
Does anyone know the percentage of registered voters who are extremely liberal or extremely conservative?? Are there more of “them” or more of “us”??
