I am a 64 year old male who would love to see a woman become President of the United States. Just not the candidate currently running for the Democratic nomination. I have been a feminist since I learned what the word meant, but the thought of Hillary in the White House horrifies me.
The differences in the paths that Hillary and Bernie have taken to get to this point are numerous. Bernie would make an extraordinary role model for my grand kids, Hillary, not so much. Hillary appears not to have any core values. Her position on issues seems to be whatever is popular now, depends on the audience to which she is speaking, and follows Bernie’s positions saying “me too.” If by chance she wins the nomination, she will run to the right as fast as she can. Bernie has had the same value system for his entire career, from the time he marched with MLK. He fine tunes it, but the core values are there.
Bernie is in his career to help people as a true public servant. His net worth is $300,000. The Clinton’s seem to have been public servants more interested in making money, as their combined net worth is over $100,000,000. No wonder they are so close to Wall Street and the big banks. Which one would you trust to take on Wall Street and protect your interests?
Hillary has every possible advantage she could have over Bernie. She has gobs of money, she has the DNC and the establishment on her side, but she is sliding backwards, just as in 2008. She cannot win on her personality, positions on issues or all her advantages. She has to resort to lying; not building herself up, but tearing her opponent down. It’s the Clinton way. What kind of mother would send her own daughter out to lie for her? Can you see Bernie doing that? What kind of candidate would have a henchman like David Brock out there lying every day? If she can’t win on her own, she just lies and tears down her opponent. Not a very good role model. What kind of women would tell her top aide to leave her husband because it will help Hillary’s campaign if she does. This is not a role model. This is an ego-maniac looking after her own power. Who do you want to represent you?
The Clinton’s use electability as a reason to vote for her. She will not win a general election. She is too disliked and not trusted. There is little passion for her. Thousands and thousands of voters who would vote for Bernie will stay home, because she doesn’t represent them. The turn out on the Republican side will be enormous, because they dislike her so much. She will lose. Bernie will win because the turn out to vote for him will be enormous because he represents so many people who have never voted before. They will vote for Bernie and probably other Dems as well.
No, I would hate to see someone like Hillary be a role model. I would much rather someone who cares about people and campaigns with class and dignity.
