I’ve been sorting through various theories and “why’s” about the Trump campaign, including one of the earliest ones — that Trump was a Clinton mole.
In national campaigns, nothing happens by accident. Sure, you could have a major terrorist attack that could shift voters’ views but certainly in Clinton’s campaign, every step is carefully mapped, every speech is carefully written.
What about Trump? He appears to be completely out of control — and he is! He has no control of his message and his positions are all over the place.
The questions are why, and, does it matter?
The answer is, no, it doesn’t matter. Trump will not win. But that leaves us with “why.”
Trump’s “economic advisors” aren’t economic experts at all. They’re just a bunch of billionaires. 12 billionaires (plus 1 phony billionaire) from whom we haven’t heard a peep other than the usual “cut my taxes and I’ll get back to you.”
In reality, these men are carpetbaggers. After the Civil War, wealthy Northerners went south to profit from reconstruction. After the fall off the Soviet Union, oligarchs, including Putin himself, bought or bribed their way into owning Russia’s vast natural resources, transportation, and infrastructure industries.
Obviously America will not collapse from a Trump loss, but the Republican Party will. These carpetbaggers under Steve Bannon’s guidance, intend to rebuild the Party in their image. Bannon called for Ryan’s ouster a year ago, with Ryan representing establishment Republicanism. Cut off the head of the beast, he rationalized.
But the current chaos is more than Bannon could have dreamed of. No Republican congressman is safe and between 12 multi-billionaires can underwrite any number congressional and senatorial campaigns. If these congressmen get any kind of majority control, the the quos will follow the quids like we’ve never before seen. By signing up with Trump they will be first in line to steal whatever resources and opportunities are left over.
I had thought that Trump might step down before the election, and that Pence would be the natural — and dangerous successor. That could still happen. Alternatively, Trump gets elected but is indicted the day after, steps down, and leaves Pence in charge. S
But in the meantime Trump wants to torch the Republican Party from top to bottom, with his team ready to move in the day after Election Day.
They will have power if WE give them power. We give them power if we don’t take congress and the senate.
