The response by tens of thousands of women and many men has been stratospheric. As of earlier today, over NINE MILLION people have tweeted, shared or liked her feed:
This is rape culture. This is the everyday experience of millions of women in the U.S alone. This was my experience back home in Canada, where the statistics are sadly similar.
I tweeted my first assault to her feed where I very briefly (all you can do on Twitter) that I was six years old the first time I was attacked.
I had skipped school because the bullies would not leave me alone. I was wandering in my city’s version of Central Park (it even shared the name) and saw a kite in a tree. For some reason, I wanted it—hey, I was a kid—and saw a group of people sitting on the grass. I walked up to them asked one fellow if he could get the kite out of the tree for me.
His response was to say yes, start walking with me to where the tree was beside the Cathedral and he suddenly grabs me and drags me behind the church
