Both of the following are true:
(a) The (now re-banned) author of this diary is an idiot.
(b) The author of that diary speaks for a significant number of people; and each of their votes counts just as much as the vote of the average intelligent, decent, well-informed Kossack.
Actually, thanks to the Electoral College, the average vote of such idiots probably counts for more than the vote of the average Kossack.
Anyhow, the long-term lesson illustrated by that idiotic diary is that you don’t win elections with reason. You win elections with emotion. Preferably emotion paired with reason (as Aristotle tried to tell us 2300 years ago); but unless emotion is in the driver’s seat, we are on the road to Loserville. There were lots of sound, logical, reasonable reasons to vote Hillary. But Hillary has never been able to connect emotionally with a broad cross-section of ordinary Americans, and we all knew this from the get-go.
So though the author of that linked diary is written by an idiot, by reminding us of a significant reason we lost, s/he proves to be a useful idiot.
Let’s try to remember this in the 2020 primaries.
