I was recently offered free tickets to see Anaïs Mitchell by a local venue which I have a membership in. She wrote a 'folk opera' in 2006, "Hadestown", described as ""the story of Orpheus and Eurydice set in post-apocalyptic Depression-era America".
She performed a couple of the songs from Hadestown, which she recorded in 2010 with a range of guest performances by Ani DiFranco, Greg Brown, and many others. I love Greg Brown's voice, and Anaïs had him sing the tune named in the title.
Though this was all written (relatively) long ago, hearing this song a couple weeks before the election triggered a bit of a weird vibe in the room.
I just ran across this video .. now I can’t get rid of the chills ..
