Dear Ms. Rhoads:
Thank you for your thoughtful letter. Your words of encouragement and support mean a great deal to me.
It is a pleasure to hear from individuals who share a vision of a better life for all Americans. A common belief in family, community, and country guides each of us as we work to realize the promise of America. Your ideas and thoughts offer added inspiration as the President works to ensure that every American’s future is filled with courage, hope, and confidence.
I appreciate the interest and concern that your letter conveys. Thank you for taking the time to write.
Sincerely yours,
Hillary Rodham Clinton
In the above letter, Hillary is responding to a letter that I had sent to her. I’m afraid I do not have a copy of the letter that I sent her. It was in long-hand on stationary! Can you imagine?
To the best of my recollection, my letter to her expressed horror and concern over the ongoing 24/7 character assassinations against her. The like of which I had never seen before. Little did I know that this would keep up for the next 22 years.
I think I also wrote in the letter (and felt) that no human being should be put through such hate speech and the bitter and vile feelings expressed by her detractors.
It is still my belief that we as Americans should hold our heads high without fear of the “other.” With the courage of our convictions as our bond, the grace of God as our shield and love for each other as the tip of our sword.
Thank you for your attention. Share. And GOTV!!
