I always suspected that the site HillaryIs44 wasn’t really a pro-Hillary site, but rather a conservative group targeting Obama, pretending to be disaffected Clinton supporters.
For years I wondered what would happen if Clinton actually got the nomination---if the people who run HillaryIs44 would feign glee, or take down the site, or find some reason to change their minds and start campaigning against her. Or, if they really were genuinely pro-Hillary, and would be happy to finally see their candidate win.
Well, now we know! As of November 3rd, HillaryIs44 Officially endorsed Donald Trump for president, complete with a rambling attempt at an explanation that doesn’t exactly click words together into a chain of concepts. They also have a handy map showing their forecast of Trump with 281 EVs minimum.
(Diarist Note: I have to step out for about 8 years. When I come back I’ll check in on how caucus99percent is doing.)
I feel obligated to add a little more content to this, rather than just pointing at these people and saying HAW HAW. I’ve actually peeked in on this site a few times during the year to see how they’ve reacted to Clinton’s nomination, and for a while I’ve seen them post lots of pro-Trump rhetoric, stopping short of an overt endorsement. One device I noticed right away was their repeated use of language to refer to Hillary Clinton today and Hillary Clinton then as distinct entities. Today’s Clinton they label “Hillary2016.”
At no point do they really provide a convincing argument for why they oppose “Hillary2016,” but clearly they are using that language to prime themselves for their 1+1=5 endorsement of the other side. Essentially the best they can do is pretend that “Hillary Clinton” is not actually running by using an alternate label to treat Clinton as a different person---in much the same way that sovereign citizens think they are separate entities from the ALL CAPS NAME that appears on their tax forms. Nevermind the logic, it’s just an attempt to use language to promote a belief, however tenuous it may be.
