And we wonder why voters think Dems/the Establishment/liberals are out of touch, don’t care about them and are elitists who could care less about the poor and the people that are in the flyover states.
So, here we go, and I am not posting this because I care about my reccs or looking for props. I am posting this because currently on the recc list are diaries about a feral cat colony, racist remarks, polls showing what insane things Trump voters believe (like we don’t already know that) while the people in Flint and now in Indiana cannot drink their water, are living in areas that have 200 times the allowable levels of led and are being told after living in places for their entire lives that they have to be evicted because of obscenely high levels of lead in their homes. We’re all so surprised about that seeing as how these homes were built ¼ mile away from 3 lead smelting plants that were active from 1920-1985 and whose highly contaminated dirt was “contained” by lined holes in the ground and mounds of dirt. Did any of that get mentioned when people moved in? Nope.
My diary today about Indiana — I didn’t even know about this until I saw Jordan from TYTPolitics Covering It on FACEBOOK LIVE! Has anyone, anywhere seen MSM coverage about this? Hundreds of kids, well over thousands of people have been living in basically a Superfund site and NO ONE BOTHERED TO TELL THEM THAT WHEN THEY MOVED IN OR BUILT THERE! THESE HOUSES WERE BUILT DECADES AGO!
Or How about the Multiple diaries about how Flint is STILL SO TOXIC THEY ARE GETTING SORES AND BURNS AND CAN’T DRINK THE DAMN WATER? Diary One and Two.
Yes, I am aware that Dems in Flint are NOW fighting for this shit to get fixed, and yes Hillary and Bernie stumped through those areas with condemnation and plans, but this shit has been going on for years, decades even in both of these cities.
Right now in Indiana, Obama’s EPA (and yes, that’s how people will see it) are just putting mulch on top of the lead filled dirt and telling people and kids to not walk on it. This is dirt right outside their front door and they somehow think the mulch will just sit there and not get washed away apparently. These people’s houses are being condemned as too toxic to live in and we have one Dem that is trying to talk to Pence (or at least one that Jordan interviewed). So yes, these are Republican run states, for now, but you can’t tell me these states weren't Dem controlled before, so this is not just a “Republicans fucked this up” issue. This is a common decency issue and yet here we are, no one on this site seems to want to talk about it. Flint’s contaminated, ho hum, yesterday’s news, so what’s going on with Trump’s Tweets.
Yes, Trump is an insane asshole, but while we’re spinning our wheels agonizing over his latest tweet, people in Flint, Indiana and other places are going without water in the USA.
The new Dem Mayor in Indiana ordered a forced relocation, HUD had no plan for getting people out to places they can afford, most of the people can’t afford to move anywhere else. This region has been Democratic until Pence, the past Mayor of 30 years was a Dem, the Mayor’s son was the Treasurer of the Dem party and became a consultant to Clinton’s campaign. So yeah, it’s not just Republicans.
Why the hell hasn’t this issue been front and center on the Dem platform? Why aren’t we out protesting this, like we did NODAPL? Which barely got any coverage on the media (Jordan from TYT went out there multiple times and for days on end, in the coldest snow as well.)
Why aren’t we speaking up for these people? These people who should be our core voters the people we pay the most attention to. And yet we are silent.
And you wonder why turnout is low, why people feel like neither party gives a shit, why, in general, people feel the government is run by corporations, for corporations.
I love how all of the sudden DC Dems are all kinds of interested in industry connections for incoming Cabinet members. We’ve been bitching for years about corporate money in politics, yet very few Dems ever bothered to address it. Now, now that we’ve lost all three branches, now they bloody well care.
Here are the breakdown vids.
