That is a photo of the honorable Mrs. Birdia Keglar. Below is some of her story and how it moves her great-grandaughter to support Bernie Sanders.

I think it deserves re-posting and viral sharing. It’s a powerful testimony for why Martise Chism, the great grand-daughter of Birdia Keglar is supporting Bernie Sanders.
Mrs. Keglar was killed on January 11, 1966 when the car in which she was riding was forced off the road in Sidon, MS, Leflore County near Greenwood. Five passengers of that car were returning from a trip to Jackson where then Senator Robert Kennedy was present to assist groups in the South's integration into mainstream America.
During his speech, Senator Kennedy stated that nothing had better happen to these people as they return home. Mrs. Adeline Hamlet, one of Mrs. Keglar’s associates for the cause was also killed. Two male associates and fighters for human dignity- Mr. Grafton Gray and Mr. Brewer were seriously injured. Another young man, a member of the Freedom Riders group visiting the South was treated at Greenwood Hospital and released. birdiakeglarlegacy.org/...
In that car with Birdia Keglar and Adeline Hamlet was also Richard L. Simpson, 27, of Massachusetts, a white SNCC volunteer who was reported as seriously injured.
This is a partial transcript of the above video by Martise Chism, great-grandaughter of Birdia Keglar speaking on why voting for Bernie Sanders is carrying on the legacy of her brave great-grandmother:
“When I found out the Bernie participated in the sit-ins, that he was one of the students that believed in the same dreams that my great-grandmother believed in and that he was out there fighting. He had the courage while a lot of people didn’t step out to help. And then, when I found out he was SNCC I think about how my great grandmother, the last person in the car with her was a 27yo SNCC student. And I think about if she was alive today that student would be the same age as Bernie Sanders.
As far as BlackLivesMatter, he was there with us in the 60”s He was there for us and I want to be there for him. I know if he’s elected he will focus on the racial injustice . He’s the only candidate that will unite all of us. He’s not just talking the talk to get elected . That’s him and it’s been him since the 60’s. Participate in the political revolution. Make sure people get out to vote.”
Here is another in-depth recounting of Birdia Keglar’s deep commitment to civil rights ,
In the early evening hours of January 12, 1966, as they returned home from a special meeting with Senator Robert F. Kennedy in Jackson, the two civil rights activists from Tallahatchie County were killed and four other passengers injured, two seriously, after their car left the road near the small town of Sidon, south of Greenwood in Leflore County.
Birdia Keglar, 56, was found decapitated and both of Adeline Hamlet’s arms had been “cleanly” severed from her body, confirm two Keglar family members, a close friend, and a Tallahatchie County minister. Hamlett was 78-years-old when she was killed and mutiliated.
Months earlier, both women were hanged in effigy by local Klansmen and warned not to participate in further voting rights activities. Each had testified before a congressional hearing in support of the Voting Rights Act of 1965.
People died for the right to vote. Vote people!
And please consider voting for Bernie Sanders, berniesanders.com/...
