According to the Travis County county clerk’s office, voter turnout is looking like it will be greater than turnout in the 2008 primary. Expected turnout in Travis County is predicted to be somewhere between 110,000-130,00 voters. This projected turnout does NOT include early voting totals (92,000) which are also greater than previous elections.
Voter turnout is not yet broken out by political party, but if early voting ratios in Travis County are any indication of election day ratios in Travis County — Democratic voters outnumber Republican voters by 2 to 1.
Of course, Travis County is somewhat anomalous in Texas, but it will be interesting to see how Democratic Party turnout compares to Republican Party turnout in all of the Super Tuesday states.
