Since Bernie’s earliest entry into the race, most prognosticators foretold his weakness with minorities and women. This diary gives had numbers to prove that Bernie is being taken down by the minority vote. No white-splaining, castigation of black voters or spin can uproot these facts. Check-out the numbers from ABC:
Georgia
Clinton won more than 80 percent of black votes and women by more than 2:1 ratio
Virginia
“Clinton won 2-1 among women, who made up a majority of voters in Virginia today. Her lead was much larger among non-white women, but she still carried six in 10 of votes by white women.
Alabama
Clinton won 90% black voters and three-quarters of women voters, who made up nearly 6 in 10 voters in Alabama.
Tennessee
Clinton won more than 80 percent of black votes, and won two-thirds of women
Texas
“ Despite concerns after the Nevada caucuses, Clinton performed strongly among Hispanic voters in Texas, who made up three in 10 of the Democratic vote, winning about 60 percent.
Clinton also won women 2-1, similar to her results among women voters in other Super Tuesday states, according to preliminary exit poll data.”
Oklahoma
” Nearly three-quarters of Oklahoma Democratic voters were white, and Sanders won their vote by a double-digit margin.”
Probably the most fascinating race of all is the one in Mass. It’s Bernie’s backyard and he outspent Hillary in a massive way. The state has a lot of white, educated voters that represents Bernie’s main constituents.
However, it had enough women and minorities to push Clinton over the top:
Massachusetts
Clinton won among women voters by a 15-point margin and ran evenly among white voters, who made up the vast majority of the electorate. However, Clinton won minorities 61-39.
So, Bernie’s strength is in targeted white areas with few minorities.
That tent is too small and I see absolutely nothing he can either say or do that will change his standing in these groups.
In my mind, nearly everything he has done or said regarding minority issues is wrong. We don’t need him to lead with mass incarceration, drug arrests, minimum wage and all of that. We black folks are so fundamentally beyond that and really gets pissed off when white liberals toss those generalizations our way.
Many of us don’t hate big corporations because we went to college to try to get hired there. Many of our voters are evangelical which makes many socially conservative.
Bernie’s answer on his religion went largely unnoticed in the media but Black folks picked-up the signals loud and clear: “this guy is an atheists.”
Remember when Hillary joined Obama in singing Amazing Grace at the Charleston 9 funeral? Oh, we noticed that...and we also whispered about who was missing.
We also noticed how Bernie trotted around Cornel West like some trophy but we literally can’t stand him almost as much as we hate Sarah Palin.
Yes, we noticed how Bernie tried to primary our first Black president and we will fight anyone, I mean anyone who will lay a glove on Obama.
So Bernie lost the black vote before the voting started because his is totally and completely out of touch with blacks in America. He still doesn’t understand what moves us and has a condescending tone and strategy to address our needs.
In my mind, women and blacks will crush his dreams or being president.
