I had considered expanding this diary, but I’m not really in a position right now (basketball, beer) to revisit 60+ years of American (and Cuban, for that matter) foreign policy. That a United States president is making an official visit to Cuba seems significant enough. My fervent hope is that this visit will reap positive dividends for everyone in both the USA and Cuba, especially bringing about the loosening of the variety of sanctions that the US has placed on Cuba for six decades, and the freedom of the people of Cuba to travel to (and return from) the USA (or anywhere else in the world) at their leisure and discretion.
Godspeed.
