Found this interesting idea in Benchmark Politics. 23% of likely Sanders’ supporters say that they would consider crossing over to the Republican primary, since they no longer feel that Bernie has a viable path to the nomination. The majority say that they would vote for Ohio governor John Kasich as an attempt to stop Trump. 12% of Clinton supporters say the same thing.
As hard as it is for us to understand, Kasich is relatively popular in Ohio and apparently in neighboring Indiana. This effect may have contributed to Clinton’s larger-than-expected victory in Ohio.
