Folks, I’ve changed my mind. I thought I was going to cast a vote for Bernie to send a message to Hillary that a big part of the electorate wants her to heed Bernie’s agenda, but now I’ve decided to cast a vote that doesn’t stand for anything for the following three irrational reasons:
1. Scary scary Donald Trump. I prefer Bernie’s policy agenda, but I’m so scared of Trump that I’ve decided to cast a vote for the candidate that who does worse against Trump according to every single public opinion poll published since this election began. I’ve gotten so scared of Trump that I am no longer able to reason correctly, so I will vote for Hillary, ya know because Bernie’s the strongest candidate against Trump and I like his policy agenda better.
2. All Bernie says is that Hillary is unqualified. He is so negative. This isn’t actually true, but people are saying it and that’s good enough for me. I don’t care that Bernie only called Hillary unqualified once in a rhetorical campaign speech a month ago when the Clinton camp was seeking to disqualify Bernie. In my opinion, this means that he is constantly saying this and his tone is entirely negative. And I vote based on misconceptions, not on facts. It’s much better to vote that way.
3. Bernie is talking about taking his message all the way to the convention and that would be truly awful. It would be horrible if there were still people pushing for Bernie at the convention just like there were still people pushing for Clinton at the convention in 2008. That sounds like democracy in action and I wouldn’t want to see that. After all, Trump is the boogeyman and look how unanimously lined up behind Trump the Republicans are. The guy who is behind in every poll will suddenly win if we have a robust convention with Bernie’s agenda being raised.
I had the idea of doing something meaningful with my vote, but now I’ve thought better of it. I’m ready for Hillary and more of the same. I will march in step with the Democratic establishment. Lest, the boogeyman win.
