First a tune …
Remember Juan Gabriel ? He's still gigging around even though he’s getting on in years. He used to play a big show in Tucson every Mother’s Day.
Hot enough for ya’ ?
It’s about time we got some summer weather around here. It topped out at 112° on the old back porch today. Nowhere near the 117 that they promised, but still …
Of course, this time of year is marked by wildfires, as we wait for the monsoons to put them out. Already there's a human-caused fire racing up Baboquivari Peak and, in the White Mountains, Show Low, McNary and Pinetop-Lakeside are under pre-evacuation advisories. Speaking of human-caused fires, two Phoenix cops started a fire up near Cleator by firing tracer rounds in Prescott National Forest. Brilliant move, Officer Moron. Also, one hiker died of heat exhaustion today in the Superstitions and another on the Finger Rock Trail in the Catalinas. We’ve hiked both of those trails before. They’re lovely hikes, but you want to do them in October or November, not freaking June!!
In other news …
A new poll shows Ann Kirkpatrick tied with Johnny Mac and picking up Republican voters while Donald Trump celebrates putting Arizona in play, for Clinton. The space balloon company plans to pay the County $1.2 million per year in rent for their new facility.
Finally, in sports …
There was a dramatic finish at the 24 Hours of Le Mans this morning as the Toyota entry, which had led the race all night, lost power during the last lap of the race allowing Porsche to snatch the win in the final seconds. The Arizona Wildcats defeated #3 seed Miami yesterday to stay alive in the College World Series. They’ll play Oklahoma State on Monday. There’s some kind of basketball game tonight too.
From our front yard …
This little guy has been blooming like crazy the last day or two.
OK …
That’s all I got for this week. How ‘bout you, anybody out there ?
