William Oliver Healey authored the most successful Parliamentary petition in British history. The petition requests a re-run of Britain's referendum on European Union (EU) membership. Brits are surging to sign the petition which temporarily crashed the House of Commons website hosting the document. At three million signatures (only 100,000 were needed), the petition has garnered enough votes to require Parliament to consider the request for a 2nd EU Referendum. If a 2nd referendum is held, the Brexit decision could be reversed thus allowing Britain to remain within the EU.
And what of the petition's author? All of this support makes Oliver Healey feel utterly miserable….
Politically, Who is Oliver Healey? Healey is a seven-year activist and Vote Leave campaigner for the English Democrats which is (described by Wikipedia as) a fringe, right-wing to far-right English nationalist political party in England.
How does Healey describe himself?
What was Healey's reaction to the Referendum decision to Leave the European Union?
Pure joy:
How did Oliver Healey become the author of a petition that he’s fighting to take down?
The petition was an act of Strategery, pure & simple.
According to an article in London’s Sunday Express, Healey “submitted the petition on May 25 in the hope it would help the fight for a Brexit if Vote Remain won the referendum by a narrow margin, by triggering a second referendum.” Fortunately and unfortunately for Healey, Vote Leave was victorious and the petition was “hijacked by the Remain campaign”.
How has Healey’s petition been received by fellow Vote Leave campaigners?
Not well….
How does Healey feel about being the Great White Hope of Vote Remain?
