MSNBC put together an admirable piece interviewing a White “Nationalist” to explain Donald Trump’s appeal to the White Supremacy and anti-diversity crowd. Well worth the watch —

And everyone seems to be jumping on his heinous comments about a “Mexican” (read American with Mexican heritage) judge being unfair to him.
What I want to ask the mainstream media is… Why is this the first Republican candidate you’re examining in this light? Is it because he’s a sure loser?
Do we doubt that racism, especially in 2008 and 2012 was a large part of the appeal of the Republican ticket? Late in the 2008 campaign, John McCain did call out a supporter at a rally who used racist language, but remember this is the man who long defended his own use of the work “gook” and who was happy to use paranoia about Obama’s ties to Reverend Wright to boost his candidacy.
In 2012, Mitt Romney went to the NAACP and talked about those voters who want “free stuff” and even got Reince Preibus, the RNC chairman to declare his use of the term “self-deportation” as racist (www.washingtonmonthly.com/...)
Add to that the Reagan characterizations of “welfare queens” and the use of Willie Horton by Bush the Elder and you can see the pattern.
It’s been obvious since Johnson signed the Civil Rights Act that a key component of the Republican strategy is to appeal to white racists. I’m glad that we finally got a Republican presidential candidate SO obviously heinous that even they have to throw up their hands to call him out.
What took so long?
