Step 1: Interaction between black man and police
Step 2: Bullets penetrate black skin
Step 3: Brave police fearfully handcuff corpse while aiming guns at it, just in case dude jumps back up like Wolverine or Michael Myers, because black men are just THAT goddamned dangerous.
Step 4: Hashtags, tears, angry crowds gathering, empty threats of retaliation, “twitter fingers”.
Step 5: Police department commences disinformation campaign and character assassination of victim while helping the murderer perfect their cover story.
Step 6: Pleas of ignorance from police chief, Pleas for calm from mayor/governor while African-American props stand behind him, toothless Department of Justice investigation announced.
Step 7: No indictment, No conviction, and even IF they’re found guilty, at most a 2 year sentence (Oscar Grant) or Community fucking Service. (Akai Gurley)
Step 8: Return to Step 1. Riots are optional.
mmmmmmmmmm.
y’know
Daily Kos is this community focused on peacefully working within America’s political system to enact a Progressive agenda by electing more and better Democrats. A noble, pragmatic mission statement.
(this is where I chuckle darkly)
Listen………….
If I’m sure of one thing, its that you could elect Leon fucking Trotsky with a 90 senator supermajority and this would still keep fucking happening.
I consider myself a pretty pragmatic guy, politically. My stances in the many pie fights round here have been reflective of that.
I say that to say……..I feel so at the end of my rope after last night……..and yes this one is worse than Alton Sterling…...I feel like previously wacky ideas like black self-defense paramilitaries or segregated (!) police departments that assign patrol duties by race suddenly don’t sound too crazy.
Just giving the Daily Kos Bubble a heads up, because if my ruthlessly pragmatic ass is feeling this way………..well…………………………..
