A quick point:
I’ve watched the tumult over Herr Drumpf’s latest public atrocity with mixed feelings.
Pro: Any day that the presumptive Republican nominee doesn’t a) lose the presumptive nomination, or b) do anything that makes it even marginally more probable that he could actually win the White House is a very good day indeed.
Con: As a middle-aged Jew and father of a young girl who saw the infamous anti-Semitic tweet, it sickens my soul that such images even still exist, let alone are propagated, let alone by a “major” party presidential candidate.
Pro: Still. Trump. What a neck-craning trainwreck. Babbling on about alternate interpretations of six-pointed stars, when anyone knows how this particular six-pointed star was intended to be understood. Which brings me to:
Con: Enough about the Star. Couldn’t someone in the media put this matter to rest once and for all by mentioning the damn stripes?
Above we see the Israeli flag: white background, blue Star of David in the middle, blue stripes at the top and the bottom. Traditional anti-semitic imagery makes ample use of both elements. I won’t post the image for trigger reasons, but if you want to see a good example, try this one.
And now, the tweet.
Note the perfectly positioned blue stripes to match the Star of David, with the cash background to drive the point home. Note the opportunity for some enterprising journalist to ask Trump about the stripes and for the rest of us to sit back with popcorn and a cold one.
So? MSM? Anyone?
