I respect Kos, and his website, but the recent redesign just plain WASTES screen space to plain, white, because of the amateurish layout. Any thread that goes deeper than six (or so) levels is limited to a width that is so narrow it makes reading virtually impossible. But, staring you right in the face is all that blank space the text COULD have used but for poor design. That ends up crowding everything in the public dialog into just the left 65% of the available page width.
That space is reserved for the “Spotlight” information, which generally never goes beyond the first screenful of information. below that is the vast wasted white space that is just evidence of poor design.
I understand the desire to limit the total number of levels of responds to a small number...some people would drift off topic if it were allowed to go to 20-deep levels, like some sites do. But, to then prohibit any text beyond that margin is just a poor decision.
Make the maximum width of any response limited not to 65% of the page width, but ONLY where the Spotlight is...that would solve the problem. Keep the number of levels where they are, but don’t force those deepest levels to be so narrow that they take up the entire height of the browser window, leaving no recourse but to just give up and go to another topic.
