Missed so far in all the coverage I’ve seen of the debate was this little nugget, from about 2/3 of the way through, in the “Securing America” section. I had to check the transcript to be sure I’d heard it right, and yes, there it was.
If elected, Donald Trump promised another ground war in the middle east. Here’s the quote:
I think we have to get NATO to go into the Middle East with us, in addition to surrounding nations, and we have to knock the hell out of ISIS, and we have to do it fast...
Now the ONLY thing that differentiates this from Bush Jr. is the fact that he is proposing a coalition NATO force. But add to this his stated intent to commit war crimes through 1) torture and 2) “taking” the oil and it is clear this duck-billed orange jello maniac would bog us down even further in regional conflicts, commit hundreds of thousands of ground troops, or, at the very worst, use our nuclear arsenal.
This quote was lost in the back-and-forth about who actually negotiated the withdrawal of troops from Iraq. It was Bush, Trump knows this, but chose to lie anyway and place the blame at the feet of Obama and Clinton. But I digress… the real point here is that if a third Iraq war were on the ballot today, it would lose. So we must make this stick.
Will some intrepid reporter question Mr. Cheeto-head on this? Is that his “secret” plan to deal with ISIS? To throw billions more dollars and thousands more American lives into the desert?
We already had one President that lied, repeatedly, to the American public and the world to get us into Iraq. That created the circumstances that led to the rise of ISIS, It is astounding to me that America, being left in the ditch by that reckless President, is as close as it is to electing someone who lies even more brazenly, repeatedly, and seemingly uncontrollably.
Trump isn’t just bush-league, he is also more Bush.
