There must be umpteen accountants and IRS agents that have had access to large portions if not the entirety of Trump’s tax returns, but so far not a page of them has been surreptitiously floated to the press.
Trump’s accountants know who butters their bread, of course, but I can’t imagine that most career IRS agents are particularly fond of him. So, just because it’s sort of rare that we acknowledge the dog that doesn’t bark, I’d like to congratulate their professionalism in making sure that a taxpayer’s information stays as private as he wants it to stay. It’s in their job description, naturally, but I’m sure there has been pressure put on them from many sides.
Of course, he ought to release them promptly and fully, and if he doesn't, every voter should take this as just one more sign of how completely unqualified and unprincipled he is — but that’s his choice, not the agency’s.
