Republican/right wingers who refuse to give women medical treatment they disapprove of on ideological grounds claim its an act of conscience.
When it comes to appeals to higher moral ground and conscience, despite the Puritan Work ethic and Dominionist theory, Profit is not a higher moral ground. Comfort and luxury at the expense of other peoples lives are not a higher moral ground.
They expect we give cover to their actions as republican/right wingers when we claim to be acting on a higher moral ground out of conscience but how about when we act on the basis of Science?
Suppose we argue a refusal to deny them my services as an architect to design hotels for them is in the very best Ayn Rand Fountainhead tradition?
Now as a Roark like disclaimer, I’m to the point where when a Republican like Peter Keating opens their mouth, before the lying even starts I disqualify them from speaking to me because they have chosen to self identify as a Republican and thus let me know that like a wolf barring its teeth they are not looking out for my interests.
I do not want to see Democratic politicians bail Republicans out on affordable health care coverage anymore than as Roark I would want to bail Peter Keating out of designing a structure that would fail and not work because its structurally unsound and built on false principles compromised by money.
I claim its an act of cold dispassionate science not to enable the survival of the people that callously bring everything that lives on this planet closer to a sixth global extinction event in the name of profit by contributing to them your services and bail them out for money.
If I can make that claim as an architect, can I make it as a lawyer, or an accountant or a contractor?
How about as a doctor? Can I as a human being stand up for my species right to exist when it comes to the question of triage, who gets treatment and who doesn’t? Can I make the argument that can’t be an economic decision and still be given the cover of conscience.
We have to admit that as a result of the last election, we face the consequences that Republicans are making decisions in our name as Americans, that will cost the lives of billions of people, and very possibly we will see the dying begin on that scale within the next decade.
I’m advocating a great refusal to serve them. A refusal to work for them. A refusal to take their money to provide them services.
A refusal to deny them my services as an architect to design hotels for them in the very best Ayn Rand Fountainhead tradition.
A refusal to sell things to them or to buy things from them as a great national ostracism of boycotts on their fossil fuel industries and their soap and toilet paper and forest products industries and everything that contributes to their profit until they stop profiting off killing us.
As a part of the resistance ostracism will act like aparthide. We will shun them
We will not contribute to making the tropics uninhabitable to give Putin and Exxon more access to profits from drilling for oil and gas in the arctic in a $500 Billion project already underway.
This is a clear conflict of interest for our nominee for Secretary of State that put the deal together and will profit from it. In order for the pussyhats march to bare its vixens fangs in protection of the next generation we need to do more than filibuster. We need to make Republicans feel shamed.
