We have an urgent call to action this week. It’s time for the full court press against the GOP tax scam. Call your Senators and voice your opposition. Here’s some good information to help you with your arguement when you call. It was written to give people ammunition for their Thanksgiving dinner conversations, but it will continue helping you this week:

From the piece:
Republicans sell their Tax Scam as being good for the middle class in large part by saying they’ve “doubled” the standard deduction. The standard deduction lets taxpayers take a certain amount off of their taxable income (currently $6,350 for a single person and $12,700 for couples). Taxpayers are also eligible under current law for “exemptions,” which allow them to take another $4,050 off of their taxable income. These exemptions are eliminated by the Tax Scam. That means a taxpayer can take $10,400 ($6,350 + $4,050) off of their taxable income under current law, and $12,000 off of their taxable income under the Tax Scam. That is NOT “doubled.” For families with multiple children, the elimination of exemptions results in a tax increase.
Today, 11/27, has been designated as a day of action by Indivisible.
Here’s the information you need to participate in the National Day of Action.
National Day of Action
Not only can we win, this fight just got more winnable. Adding the individual mandate to their tax bill puts us at an entirely different arena, and already some Senators are expressing concerns about that being added. Nonetheless, Republicans will try to do this as quickly as possible so the key right now is slowing them down, just like it was with #TrumpCare. If we can slow them down, we can shed more light on this bill. And if we shed light on this bill, we can kill it.
Another important call to action is on net neutrality. Trump’s FCC Chair, Ajit Pai, has made it clear that he intends to end the regulations put in place by the Obama administration that keeps the internet open and fair to everyone. Of course, there is serious mis information floating around giving the people the wrong idea of what net neutrality actually is. Familiarize yourself with this information so you can converse with your Senators and Rep about why it’s necessary to maintain net neutrality.
Net Neutrality
From the piece:
When you go online you have certain expectations. You expect to be connected to whatever website you want. You expect that your cable or phone company isn’t messing with the data and is connecting you to all websites, applications and content you choose. You expect to be in control of your internet experience.
When you use the internet you expect Net Neutrality.
Net Neutrality is the basic principle that prohibits internet service providers like AT&T, Comcast and Verizon from speeding up, slowing down or blocking any content, applications or websites you want to use. Net Neutrality is the way that the internet has always worked
