A small group of protesters blocked the stairs and prevented DeVos from reaching the door to Jefferson Academy in Washington DC.
DeVos turned away and left, ABC7 reporter Sam Sweeney told us. It is unclear if she attempted another door.
One protester shouted, “You do not represent anything that they stand for!”
Another: “You should be so proud of yourself” for giving money to Senators and “buying your way into the position.”
DeVos was preparing to attend Jefferson Academy early Friday morning after the gathering was organized by the Washington teacher's Union.
According to the article, the Union did not support DeVos’s nomination, but now they say it will be good for students and teachers if she “succeeds”, whatever that means. Everything we know about DeVos indicates that “success” for her will not mean anything good for public schools.
