So here is a thought to ponder. I'm a baby boomer. I remember well the 60's and 70's, some of us plunged head first into a changing world, others of us did not.
When you boil it down, this last election was decided by 80,000 voters in Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.
I suspect if you studied the exit polls closely, looked at the demographics, an argument could be made that what decided this last election, elected Trump, was the angry disappointed left behind baby boomers in those three states, the folks who never took the plunge. The same group also carried Ohio.
Trump too is a baby boomer, he knew exactly how to play the resentments of the left behind of his own generation . But that’s about all he knew.
Seen in that light - what just happened is a one off, the last gasp gripe of folks not happy with how things turned out largely because they never engaged for whatever reason.
It should not be seen as a portend of the future.
