Last night in Stephen’s monologue, Stephen took on Stephen Miller’s absurd claim “The powers of the President to protect our Country are very substantial and will not be questioned.” Colbert’s response was exactly what was going through the minds of anyone who had taken a grade school civics class on the U.S. constitution. And quite succinct too. You can feel the audience’s visceral reaction to Colbert’s appropriate response to Miller and you can practically hear them jumping to their feet.
The exchange starts around 3:22 but the whole monologue is good.
I’am a big fan of Stephen Colbert and have noticed that he has found a poignant groove again. It took him a while after leaving the Report. Sometime around the conventions I think. It seems now he realizes that the Colbert Report Stephen is really who he is after all. But now he can do it without the premise of being a right wing twit.
