Real quick, I haven’t seen this diaried here yet…I don’t intend to shill products but I got a charge of much-needed hope out of this.
Humble Bundle Inc. is a prominent download store, known for its support of charities via game sales. Right now, ending Monday 2.20.17, they are running the “Humble Freedom Bundle” and they’ve outdone themselves.
Humble and several of its content partners are taking a vocal stand against the Usurper’s travel/Muslim/refugee/whatchamacallit ban. Customers can pay $30 or more for 70-ish items including acclaimed games, music and ebooks, and the proceeds are going to the ACLU, Doctors Without Borders, and International Rescue Committee.
How are gamers responding? As of this writing, they have raised nearly $5.3 million in just 3 days. Yes, million! Though misogynist, homophobic, and downright nasty elements of gamership make a lot of noise, this startling response shows our true colors. People by and large know better and act better, but that’s no way to get attention. $5 million and counting though, is pretty hard to ignore!
