This is a crisis of the hugest magnitude this country has ever faced, that is no exaggeration. The GOP is at war with democracy itself, and that is not an overstatement. None of this can be overstated. Crisis demands immediate intervention, we are talking about serious damage Trump and the GOP are doing to this country, not may do, they are gutting and destroying elements of our society and country that have been hard fought for, yet another thing that cannot be overstated.
While the GOP maintains there is nothing there, it’s all “fake news”, it goes deeper, if there is solid proof, this is not only an illegitimate president, so is his cabinet, and his vice president. Everything he wrote into law is null and void, and so is everything Republicans have jammed through under Trump’s watch. All appointments are null and void, and so are nominations and confirmations.
It would appear that the FBI and other intelligence entities have plenty to indict Trump and others for collusion. So what are we waiting for? Oh yeah, that would be the most ridiculously partisan congress imaginable, a congress that can’t seem to put their job, which is to uphold the constitution and act as an oversight and enforcement arm against the executive branch when they lose their way as pertains to the constitution.
Intelligence has a responsibility to bring it on, to reveal what they know that demands an indictment. Their hands are tied by not being able to be seen as interfering of taking partisan roles, marching orders come from the DOJ (another broken arm with Sessions) or Congress. Congress is it, it is up to the house of representatives or the senate to declare a crisis of unprecedented magnitude. Such a crisis of never seen before impact demands that the arms of democratic oversight be forced into effect. Congress in turn then demands that the DOJ do their part prosecuting violations. Democrats in the house and senate are flailing around fighting a myriad of battles, too many of which they are losing, when there is only one battle that fixes everything. Declaring a crisis, formally declaring that the constitution is being violated, that Congress is violating their oath to uphold the constitution.
I’ll post a separate post on the exact game plan that needs to be adopted by voters and congress. In a nutshell Dems need to formally go on the record so that the wheels of justice and the law can be freed up to roll, and by that I mean steamrolling over the GOP for obstruction. The limits of what the GOP can get away with with a majority are defined by the constitution, and they are trashing the constitution. That said Democrats need to formally introduce objections with legal constitutional violations cited, starting with the Senate’s failure to comply with the rules of confirmation that the GOP demanded that Obama comply with, which he did.
The message needs to be formally sent that the constitution and democracy is being violated, and any GOP members that support violations and refuse to support oversight and enforcement are subject to being removed from office. I can guarantee you that the GOP would shit if that message is sent, that the entire GOP is in actuality guilty of violating their oath.
This is a message that needs to be passed on, especially to senators and representatives. But voters need to focus on intervening in this crisis as well.
