About three or so years ago I was writing a reply to some article in my local newspaper and I quoted a friend of mine about her time growing up in Germany. She said “the difference between Americans and Germans is that Americans think it can't happen in their country…” Well let me tell you the number of absolutely evil responses I got was unbelievable. Dozens upon dozens of replies to my little post came back ripping me a new one as the saying goes. “Of course it can't happen here…” and the like.
My o’ my how the tables have turned. Sometimes you just hate being correct about things. Yes, with each step we take, we get closer and closer to that thing that couldn't happen here. And the astonishing thing to me is that the names haven't even changed. Its not like the NAZIs are hiding who they are! Could it be any more obvious that we are slowly becoming them? (well some of us I mean)
Today I glanced over the comments list of that same paper and to my not so surprise, many of those same user names came up and can you guess who they were supporting in the C’ville crisis? Thats right tRump himself. Curious isn't it? Hate and stupid has always gone together — but today we mix it up with a bit of irony as well.
