The Daily Mail broke the story here: www.dailymail.co.uk/… Until he resigned or was forced out today, Rob Porter was one of the most important remaining members of the White House Staff, handling all paper that goes to President Trump. www.politico.com/… He was White House Staff Secretary. This position is especially important in the Trump White House, as it is well known that the President is a non-reader — either does not or cannot read.
Porter’s job put him in the closest proximity not only to the President, but also to White House Chief of Staff General John Kelly and White House Director of Communications Hope Hicks. Kelly chose to ignore the well-documented allegations that Porter punched his former wives in the face, and praised him to the sky, calling him an honorable person and indispensible to the White Wing, oh sorry, make that the West Wing. www.thedailybeast.com/… The Daily Mail story alleges and documents with photographs that he may have an out-of-the-West-Wing relationship with Ms. Hicks who ought to beware Porter’s history.
Porter had failed to get a security clearance. Now we know why. Porter had violated a restraining order by one of his abused exes. I believe the women. Please read the Daily Mail piece photos and all — here www.dailymail.co.uk/… One of Porter’s exes says Porter waited until the honeymoon (the honeymoon!) before punching her in the face.
This is of great importance for additional reasons.First, it demonstrates once again that Trump and the people around him really stink at vetting people for key jobs. Second, Porter should be called as a witness to the Mueller investigation, as he — like Ms. Hicks — have seen and heard everything that has gone on in this White House. Third, it demonstrates Kelly’s inadequacy to his job — he urged Porter to stay — Nicole Wallace is saying right now on MSNBC that urging Porter to stay in these circumstances is insupportable and inexcusable.
Surely, Kelly and Trump knew of Porter’s background and yet let this go on. And yet Kelly pleaded with Porter to stay. Kelly is just as ethically challenged as Trump. And as Porter.
