Everywhere I go, when I speak before an audience or if I’m invited to a candidate function, someone always brings up the Democratic Wave: “it’s coming our way!” Oceanic waves are natural occurances. Unstoppable, powered by many factors including gravity, the moon, and so on. Electoral waves, also have causes. Those causes being candidates, activists, and voters.
Pictured above are the volunteers and supporters of Sharice Davids, who won her election to become the nominee in Kansas third. All over the country, races like these require a lot of voters and volunteers.
That’s why, next weekend, I’ll be in Omaha, Nebraska, attending the Exon Morrison event, where we will end the day celebrating the volunteers after spending a day working to help elect Kara Eastman and Jane Raybould.
Every year, all over the country, there are thousands of candidates. Individuals who put their name on the line. They don’t always get high profile endorsements or always even seek them out. The community that supports them, the people who knock the doors and make the phone calls — they are the people who I like to think the C!U!A! community always endorses.
So, I will be in Omaha, kicking off support for their fall campaign efforts, and meeting with candidates and campaign workers next week — look for a full report next Sunday!
DNC Summer Meeting
We will be having a meeting of the DNC in Chicago, and I will be in Chicago from August 21-26. Are you a Daily Kos reader who wants to see how the party works at that level? Feel free to stop by the Hyatt Regency after giving me a PM here, I’ll announce some evening meeting opportunities, and we can get together and discuss absolutely anything in person — so Chicago readers heads up!!
Announcing: South Dakota & Minnesota!
In September, I’ll be traveling to South Dakota, and we’re going to talk about outreach into Native American communities to help turn out the vote, and we’ll also be going to Minnesota’s second congressional district to work canvass options to defeat Jason Lewis — prepare for a lot of video content from both of these about what it takes to go into Republican districts and meet voters who will inspire you to do more.
Also, I wanted to add this — campaigns are all about our future. It warms my heart to see our candidates embrace that future and support our campaign workers who have just had children. So, for my cute moment of the week..
That’s what is on my plate, how about you?
