I’ve been saying for a while now that this will be the sleeper race of the midterms – Carolyn Bourdeaux has run a stellar campaign in this suburban, “majority minority” district that Trump carried in 2016 by a tight margin.
We’ve seen internals from Carolyn showing her with a very slight edge, but no response from her opponent, and no independent polling because nobody figured this would be a close race. She has clawed her way from nowhere, to this incredible news today.
The Atlanta Journal Constitution reports on both Carolyn’s amazing work and Lucy Mcbath’s in the district next door.
Two years ago, U.S. Rep. Rob Woodall cruised to reelection in his Gwinnett and Forsyth-based House district, easily defeating a Democrat who challenged him on a shoestring budget.
The financial picture couldn’t be more different in 2018. Carolyn Bourdeaux, his current Democratic opponent, has clobbered him in the fundraising department. Her campaign said Tuesday that she outraised the Lawrenceville Republican by a margin of more than three to one between July and October.
During that same period, Democrat Lucy McBath raised nearly twice as much as Congresswoman Karen Handel, R-Roswell, next door in the 6th Congressional District.
She now sits with a slight advantage over the R incumbent. From opensecrets.org:
She has a slight edge in cash on hand, $820k to $548k. But the R’s won’t stand idly by — expect the national corporate PAC money to start flooding in. Carolyn, in contrast, is taking ZERO dollars in corporate PAC money.
Let’s push hard NOW in this frontline battleground district! Putting R’s on the defensive in these battlegrounds not only keeps these districts in play, but it helps Dems ACROSS THE COUNTRY by forcing R’s to defend what used to be safe territory.
to Help Carolyn Take GA’s 7th District, Turn Georgia Blue, and RETAKE THE HOUSE!
Carolyn is incredibly well qualified, she’s smart, tough, and she’s stepping up for us!
