Or just assign the topic to someone who you already have. There was just a huge increase in federal spending, after years of constrained budgets. I follow politics quite closely, and I honestly don't know what that means. It seems like it should be a huge news story with lots of details, but all the articles here and elsewhere seem to focus on the politics and ignore the details.
There should be a weekly Front Page feature that spells out the budgets (with fun pie charts and all) of all the federal agencies, down to the most granular line item. I'm thinking of a department or agency a week with an occasional post on the overall federal budget.
I don't see this sort of fundamental explanation of what's going on with government in any media outlet, this one included. Occasionally there are issues that get into the weeds, but there is no easily accessible foundation of knowledge and information. This site does great work compiling disparate political news and events. A basic educational element, just to sketch out exactly what we are all fighting about beyond personalities and buzz words, should not be too much of a heavy lift.
If you need to hire someone to do this job, I humbly submit that the new president of Harvard's signature is on my diploma ;)
