We all knew it was a matter of time before they started going after the survivors of the Stoneman Douglas shooting who were brave enough to stand up and be heard. Well, now it’s begun:
Here’s Dim Jim:
Yep, the kid can’t be trusted because...his dad is in the FBI. The line is somehow that the FBI hates Trump, and his dad is in the FBI, so he trained his son to say anti-Trump things.
And, I hope you were wondering if someone would declare them crisis actors, because you’d be right:
And, no, this isn’t wrong. We all have to have our moments of levity even in the darkest of times. It’s how we survive.
There are others, including one from Rush, whom I refuse to insert (actually, he doesn’t really make any point that hasn’t already been made).
So, it’s our job to protect these kids. Do not let anyone get away with attacking them. Tell them to shut up, no matter where they are. We’ve let our kids down for too long. Now that they’re taking control of their future, we have to make sure they can shape it in the safest environment we can give them.
Update: I wanted to make a comment about the idea that these kids can take care of themselves. I’m a parent of some really smart kids — one’s working on his PhD in chemistry (so, technically not a kid in the age sense, but he’s mine), one’s writing a book, and one is writing music — but they are still kids. There are some things they should not have to be exposed to at their ages. And it’s the same with these kids. Yes, they have survived being shot at and have had their friends die. And yes, they COULD probably deal with the things that will be coming at them. But, even at their best, it will wear on them. It will make them feel isolated. Our “protection” is to give them the chance to shape their future. We owe them that.
Update 2: One immediate way to support the kids is to write to them, Sher Watts Spooner, caught the following and reported it in her diary:
(Thanks for the catch, chicagobama.)
