(Ack! The frontpager about the Pruitt interview dropped while I was writing this. Oh, well)
With journalism jobs disappearing everywhere, surely the survivors are the best of the best, experts at getting truth and cutting through the lies?
(Always start with a joke, they tell you)
The infinitely credulous David Brody has been busy this week, publishing a truly amazing interview with Scott Pruitt, Man of GOD —
Pruitt hopes to pursue that mission with a servant's heart. After all, he's the kind of guy you might meet in Bible study. The former Sunday school teacher and church deacon wants to use that faith background in his role as EPA administrator.
Lesser people reading this at CBN might think it silly fluff, but the Titans who run the New York Times decided that they should hear more from Mr. Brody, who happens to have a book coming out about Donald Trump, Messenger of GOD:
Bishop Wayne Jackson, who is the pastor of Great Faith Ministries International in Detroit and calls himself a lifelong Democrat, remembers Mr. Trump’s campaign visit to his church. He told me that the moment Mr. Trump got out of the car, “the spirit of the Lord told me that that’s the next president of the United States.”
Evangelical leaders also see a civic obligation to speak godly counsel to him, on policy and personal matters. He is, after all, the president. And it’s paying off. I’ve watched Mr. Trump through the lens of the faith community for years, and he has delivered the policy goods and is progressing on the spiritual ones.
At least the NYT has enough residual shame to have no comments on this drivel. HT LGM
The AP has pushed out to unsuspecting readers all over the world an even more fabulous tale, Trump processes Fla. students’ grief as president, parent. Catherine Lucey, apparently a typical reporter, doesn’t quite live down to the absurdist headline, but she tries. She gives anonymity for the most specious reason :
A senior administration official, speaking on condition of anonymity to share private conversations, likened the president’s reaction to the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School students to the impact Trump felt when he saw images of children’s listless bodies after a chemical attack in Syria last April.
Followed by many more words designed to make Trump sound like a decent human being, despite all evidence, with one truly epic line:
“Trump, never a natural at emotional language, grasped for the right words.”
Just felt a need to curse the tide. Thanks for reading!
