The World Peace and Unification Sanctuary in Newfoundland, Pennsylvania, decided to hold a special kind of insane ceremony: they are blessing any and everyone’s AR-15s. According to WFMZ TV in Pennsylvania, this has unsurprisingly led nearby educators to feel unsafe.
While the church claims the event will be safe and secured, the Wallenpaupack Area School District is making some adjustments to keep students and staff far away from the ceremony.
The District sent a letter to parents of kids at the Wallenpaupack South Elementary School, which sits just half of a mile away from the Sanctuary Church, explaining students will spend the day Wednesday on the North Campus, a safety precaution prompted by the planned marriage blessing ceremony where participants are expected to bring AR-15 rifles.
According to CBS News, the religious group believes that the AR-15 rifle, the same weapon used in numerous domestic terrorist murders, is the perfect symbol of the “iron rod,” or “iron scepter,” in Revelation 2:27.

that one 'will rule them with an iron scepter and will dash them to pieces like pottery' --just as I have received authority from my Father.
The Sanctuary Church says they expect “hundreds” of people to come with their iron scepters for the blessing. This group is a “breakaway faction” of the Unification Church, and run by the son of Rev. Sun Myung Moon—who you may remember from being a lunatic and ultimately criminal scam artist. In the Unification Church’s defense, they have distanced themselves from this idiotic event.
"It saddens us that Reverend Moon's son has chosen to separate himself and walk in opposition to his parent's legacy building world peace," Rev. Richard Buessing, president of Family Federation, another name for the Unification Church, said in a statement.
According to church officials, all of the weapons will be unloaded and secured with zip ties at the blessing. Why? Who is to say? Guns are fucking dangerous and everybody knows that God won’t lift a finger if one of these crazy gun numb nuts decides to open fire—especially in a religion that is praying for the end of the world to come violently. The best part is that while this religious group can very easily be classified as a “cult,” it seems strange that their belief in the “symbolic” importance of the AR-15 rifle so closely mirrors that of the NRA’s.
