Don’t get me wrong — I love tables, bikes, jump ropes and film crews. I’m guessing our very own joanbrooker and her students at the NYC School for Visual Arts were at the West Side march today. They, however, didn’t screw with anyone else’s right to March. They are pretty much better than the national media.
Just grateful that a White Evangelical Mission didn’t book Central Park West between the 70s and Times Square (42nd Street) for a greed gospel vigil. A bit of a nudge — look for the SVA documentary of the first Women’s March — not sure if the second one is up yet. Brilliant.
So, just curious after watching incredibly articulate young people from across the nation speak today — how did the whatever that took up the entire D.C. Mall for a permit go?
If you want to depend on anyone today — depend on the youth. They adjusted to the 17th Street change of permit, established a stage that framed the Capitol building, lucked out with the surrounding environs of the Women’s Museum and the Newseum and packed the streets. I’m guessing more than a million but there has been one time I’ve been wrong about 52 years ago.
Thanks to all the small donors and sane rich people who helped make this event happen in D.C.
Any pictures from the Mall? Who won the jump rope contest? Sorry Perv Administration — you couldn’t dampen the March which ended with an anthem from my youth — The Times They Are a Changin’. Dylan is never out of touch.
Thanks young people. You are the folks who will get the former non-voting young people to vote in off years and on years. You will get the lazy middle aged and old folk voters off their asses. Don’t give up on the boomers. We have been out there for decades. Only some of our generation — like all those before and after us are asshole Skreli types.
It takes a Perv in the WH, the Huckabee Woman and/or Nuclear Bolton to be so clueless/souless not to hear your message. Even the GOPers bought off by the Russians hear you and are afraid.
