At this point, the news that Trump is (www.dailykos.com/...) looking into ways to dismiss DAG Rosenstein (www.dailykos.com/...) so he has a ‘clean shot’ at firing Special Counsel Mueller (which he’s apparently been itching to do as late as last December (www.nytimes.com/...) and which his idiot monkey staff have apparently convinced him he is legally empowered to do (abcnews.go.com/...) hardly seems like...well, not so much “breaking news” as much as “inevitable disaster”.
So, does this mean its time to PANIC, given the rule of law is about to join Bolshevik Socialism in the ash-heap of history?
In a word, no.
No, we don’t panic.
We don’t ever panic.
Panic is useless, pointless, and worst of all: wasteful!
A wasteful of time, of energy, of resources, and most of all a waste of our attention!! Panic distracts, diverts, and mis-directs our attention at a moment when it should be focused as a laser upon the unfolding disaster within Washington DC at both ends of Pennsylvania Avenue!
No, we DON'T PANIC!!
Rather, it is time for us to prepare for the single worst crisis to hit our nation since Fort Sumter was bombarded by rebel batteries nearly 157 years ago (almost to the day) and the Federal government was forced to finally take up arms against the so-called Confederacy.
It is time for us to watch the next moves in the White House and Congress with eyes like our national symbol.
It is time for us to organize on a scale previously reserved for times of outright war.
It is time for each of us, in our own ways both large and small, to fight for the dream and promise of this nation of ours.
We will march in the streets, we will organize ourselves and our fellows into a unified movement against the living embodiments of greed and inequality that poison our body politic.
We will challenge our officeholders to live up to the ideals of their office...and run for those offices ourselves should they prove inadequate to the task. And when we loose one election cycle, we return for the next one, and the one after that, and on and on until we win.
We will register those who have not and vote in ever election, over and over, until the diseased carcass of the modern GOP is driven from government influence entirely.
We do this because unlike the aforementioned rotting carcass of a political party, we are driven not by either brute tribalism or a blind lust for power. We do this because we, unlike them, believe in the ideals this country was founded upon, and which we try — however imperfectly — to live up to.
These may well prove the times that try our souls, just as those dark days that lead our Founding Fathers to declare independence from what they saw as their home country.
But one thing will not do, never do, is panic.
We will act with purpose, not lash out as the GOP’s base does so often and with so little provocation.
We will act with conviction, not to the vague, insincere ideals the Republican’s leadership spouts off daily.
But one thing we will never, ever do...is panic.
Leave the hysteria and hysterics for the Republicans. Its all they have left.
Prepare, and when needed, act.
But — and I say this with endless apologies to the late Douglas Adams —>
DON’T PANIC!!!
