This is not Nicaragua… This is Puerto Rico, the Caribbean Island under US colonialism.
Thousands of Puerto Ricans marched in San Juan today against the austerity plans proposed by the Junta (US control board overseeing the finances of the Island) which include cuts to pensions, a reduction in vacation and sick days, the closing of schools, university tuition increases and other cuts in basic services. The Island-wide Paro Nacional (National Strike) was supported by opposition parties, labor unions, students and other social groups.
