A couple of weeks ago I posted a story about the mobile billboards circling around the Capitol Building imploring the GOP to put country before party. As you can see from this video (which got over 40,000 views) the response was overwhelmingly positive. The people on the streets of DC cheered, gave thumbs up and took a million pictures. The comments on the Daily Kos story were tremendously supportive, with many people asking that the billboards go to other towns and cities across the country. The response to the DC campaign tells me that the great majority of us are very concerned about Trump’s authoritarian tendencies and even worse, the GOP’s complicity in covering up his crimes.
I believe that our democracy is in greater risk now than at any time in our history. With the GOP’s help, Trump could quite possibly become a total authoritarian, above the law and beneath contempt. Already unbridled by the checks and balances our Republican controlled institutions and other branches of government are supposed to enforce, Trump’s power is potentially limitless.
With enough will, we can still prevent a Trumpian future. If these mobile billboards can reach enough towns and cities, alerting the masses in swing states of the danger of a Trump dictatorship aided and abetted by a complicit GOP. What these morally challenged Trump sycophants are doing is tantamount to treason. These trucks can expose them for what they are, which can possibly appeal to their last vestiges of patriotism, and/or enlighten enough people to vote this November against those who put party before country.
Some might say that this post is basically an ad and doesn’t belong here. I argue that it serves as a notice of a opportunity to try to enlighten the public and protect our democracy before Trump is emboldened to fire Sessions, Rosenstein and/or Mueller. For those who want to be a part of an attempt to come out of the national nightmare we’ve been living in, victorious, here is the link to the Make The GOP Put Country Before Party Go Fund Me campaign.
