No, don’t stop the U.S. government’s investigation. The government is carrying out the most crucial investigation in its history. We, the people, must find out if Trump and Russia conspired together to steal the 2016 presidential election.
I mean let’s stop calling it “The Mueller probe,” “The Mueller Investigation,” not without qualifying.
Hey, I’d forgotten too until a legal pundit on MSNBC said in response to the host’s “Mueller investigation” question, “it isn’t Mueller’s investigation. It’s the government’s.”
Who’d a thunk it!
Easy to forget that Mueller didn’t bring it, and certainly not because Comey was Mueller’s homie or because Mueller is a golf course cheapskate.
For the media, “Mueller probe” does sound sexier than “the Department of Justice probe.”
For Trump, attributing “the rigged witch-hunt” and “the Russia hoax,” to one man rather than to the third branch of government, the judiciary, provides a juicy but fallacious storyline—that the U.S. Special Counsel is some guy with a grudge, acting independently, a rogue; that the investigation entire is unconstitutional; that a dark force personified in Mueller, hunts the poor president, tries to get him to perjure himself, crashes through his pals’ doors, and unleashes Democratic party demons on him.
In Trump’s scenario, Mueller becomes Inspector Javert with his posse of “17 angry democrats” pursuing Jean Valjean through the DC swamp for stealing a loaf of bread.
But I see that Manafort’s case, in judicial terms, bears the title
US v Manafort
Note: not Mueller v Manafort
Trump, if you’re listening, you can have your case name emblazoned in gold lettering:
US v Trump
Let me, in your speak, but translating a bit, pose a vital question.
Who or What could be the central force behind Mueller and his crew’s personal vendetta?
Must be THE DEEP STATE.
Following to a logical conclusion: the U.S. government is the deep state.
So, naturally, you call out the American government daily.
You accuse it of harassing, hounding, and politically knee-capping you. Now and then you demand Deep State Deputy Attorney General Rosenstein be fired, or his “inferior official,” the U.S. Special Prosecutor wrap up things before he indicts you and yours.
At one point you ordered A.G. Sessions to save you.
But you can’t fire your way to freedom from the jaws of The Deep State because your true foe is much more empowered than Mueller and his minions. Bigger than those like Rosenstein and Sessions who work for it.
What you are trying to escape is nothing less than the U.S. Justice System .
Not only does your wriggling and whining make you sound unpatriotic, but you pollute my world.
So I suggest a new approach. Take a lesson in protest dignity from Colin Kaepernick. He showed respect for our system of justice while you call it rude names, threaten to fire its officers, gaslight it.
Why don’t you just STFU up and take a knee?
No one will fire you for doing so—not yet. And then, only once you are charged in the case to be called
US v Trump
Sounds sexy to me.
