The day before the first debate of the 2020 election cycle, an exciting new poll has been released from MoveOn.org. MoveOn (a progressive group) released data that shows where Democrats rank among voters across the country, and with particular importance on early-voting states, like Iowa, Nevada, New Hampshire, and California.
This polling took place online between June 17 and 21. MoveOn members received the poll via email. They didn’t report a margin of error, for the record.
Who is leading the pack, according to MoveOn? Senator Elizabeth Warren is the top pick, according to 38% of MoveOn members. She’s also top among the early-voting states.
17% say Senator Bernie Sanders is their top pick, putting him in second place. This shift of Warren over Sanders is interesting in the MoveOn demographic, given that in 2016, MoveOn voters favored Sanders over Hillary Clinton. Former Vice President Joe Biden is a close third to Bernie’s second, coming in at 15%, and Mayor Pete Buttigieg comes in at 12%. Then we drop to the single digits, with Senator Kamala Harris at 7%.
Overall, only 2% of MoveOn voters report that they’re still undecided.
For the curious, this lines up pretty well with straw polls here at Daily Kos. In this data, Warren led the pack at 35%, with Sanders, Harris, Biden, and Butttieg rounding out the top five contenders. Here at Daily Kos, this broke down to 24% for Sanders, 12% for Biden, 10% for Buttigieg, and 8% for Harris.
