On Meet the Press this morning I was disgusted but unsurprised to see their typically Republican-heavy lineup included Liz Cheney. "What gems of neoconservative wisdom shall issue forth from her supposed mind?", I wondered.
Well, I was not to be disappointed when she unearthed the oft-repeated neocon trope that Obama's precipitous withdrawal - nay retreat from Iraq was a unilateral, personal effort to undermine our national security.
Now I am certain that most of the members of this community are well aware that it was the Joint Status of Forces agreement negotiated by her own father's administration which compelled the withdrawal. I suppose that it might be argued that Obama could have tried to renegotiate the agreement, but as we all know, there was little political stomach for that in either party. And of course Obama would have been lambasted by Republicans for even considering it.
What really makes my guts churn is when I see these kinds of lies (old lies at that) just get slipped into the narratives of these Republicans, and go completely unchallenged.
But then again, Chuck Todd. Amirite?
