So just in case you thought that the POTUS would escape the headlines this weekend, I’m drawing him back in.
So. This is the new politics of the empowered class.
Say it wasn’t you. You don’t believe it to be you. You are sure that it isn’t you. You say that you said it was you at first because you had not ‘studied’ the situation.
Double down.
Say it’s unrealistic to elevate the anguish and upset and lost of trust of African Americans and those in Virginia in particular to his job as Governor.
Say, ‘oh by the way’, that wasn’t me in that yearbook that I never seen until Friday, but I did once dress up in blackface as Michael Jackson. But that wasn’t me in that yearbook picture.
Oh and you say that you only used a little of it [shoe polish] because it’s so hard to get off of white skin.
Say to the world that you have to remain as Governor because that’s basically the only way ‘we’ can have a serious conversation about racism.
The only thing missing here is calling the media fake news at this point.
I go out for a few hours to get away from all of this and I come back to not only a double down, but a weak ass consolation prize that the entitled, empowered one will grant us a conversation about race as long as he doesn’t have to reap the consequences of his… privileged tone deafness.
Thanks Trump. You have now perfected your corrosive model of politics to the Democrats.
