Carla Sands, U.S. Ambassador to Denmark, put in an appearance Friday at Roskilde University, and made headlines, at least in the Danish press, for her comments regarding climate change.
Politiken reports that Amb. Sands’ visit, although coinciding with global student action against climate change, was not specifically aimed at discussing climate change or the environment. Danish students asked her whether she “believes in the scientific consensus about the causes of global warming.”
Her response:
A temperature rise of a few degrees would be good for business...
Later in the visit she called science a “dogma”.
Amb. Sands’ qualifications for discussing science are the same as her qualifications for the diplomatic corps: she’s a former soap opera actress who now manages the financial holdings of her late husband, California real estate mogul Fred Sands, and helped support and facilitate Donald Trump’s 2016 campaign and 2017 inauguration. [Yes she earned a D.C. and practiced chiropractic medicine for almost a decade in the 1990s but I’m not sure that helps either.]
Another example of Trump scratching the backs of his financial enablers, promoting ignorance and incompetence.
Politiken goes on to describe the general face-palming of the Danish scientific community.
